I wear two hearing aids so some of the more nuanced pitches and tones, singing intervals were difficult for me, but Dr. Carmen always found ways to help me be successful, in the area's where I needed to most help."

"Dr. Carmen is THE BEST Ear Training teacher I could have ever dreamed of having. She is very kind but also very demanding and this is the perfect combination for what I feel I need from a teacher. "Dr. Jordyn Carmen is a model pedagogist She uses the most effective methods for building pupil skill through the use of the demonstration lesson. The rote tasks are isolated and taught independently from the principles and concepts that are needed to execute the overall goal (terminal objective).I am not sure whether she does this by instinct or as a result of having had teacher training, but she was able to help me to HEAR and UNDERSTAND at a greater level than achieved in my previous ear training lessons. I have grown, musically and my playing has improved greatly!"

I particularly like how she would introduce a mix of material, and tell us certain things would be tested the following week and others the week after. This really helped me work through topics, and I think some of them would have been much harder with only one week of preparation."
